Position Purpose
The Asian Association of Utah (AAU) Afterschool Positions are responsible for working with another afterschool staff in carrying out after school programming that takes place at the program site they are assigned. The staff will be assigned one site for the duration of the school year. The program includes carrying out academic assistance, sexual health education (curriculum based) and other appropriate programming. The staff will work closely with the other facilitate and run all parts of the program. Data collection, reporting, and other responsibilities will be assigned outside of normal programming hours.
Schedule
Position will start August 1st, 2021. 20-25 hours a week will be spent carrying out programming that will run from at the above listed hours during the regular school year (No Summer Program). Non-programming hours will be directed to administrative work including lesson planning, collecting grant data, and grant reporting. Position will end June 15th, 2022 and restart in August 1st 2022. A part-time position June 15 – August 1st could be available in a separate AAU department.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and execute all activities in the After school programming which includes but is not limited to carrying out homework help, programming (planned lessons), and any other field trips or partnership activities; the focus of this year is teaching comprehensive sexual health
Collaborate with other afterschool staff in completing all grant objectives
Planning alternate activities for homework time (for kids who do not have homework or have finished homework)
Keeping grant requirements and objectives up to date and organized – maintaining a consistent average daily attendance, recruiting new students, reporting, performing home/parent visits, etc.
Collaborate in completing grant reporting (recording data, analyzing data and writing brief reports)
Completing other assigned tasks as needed
Other Considerations:
- bilingual individuals who speak refugee specific languages given preference
- teaching experience and/or degree/coursework in education
- experience with refugees and diverse populations
- must have own transportation/valid driver's license for position – part of the position responsibilities is to assist in providing transportation home for the youth in afterschool programming; must have at least 2 years of driving experience
- must pass background check
- position is for school year only; summer employment opportunities with AAU a possibility
Compensation
$13-16/hr DOE
No health/medical benefits offered for PT positions
Prorated paid time off and paid holiday schedule offered
